Raag Bhupali: Indian Classical Music, Its Key Features, Basics and Practice:

Indian Classical Music is devided into two branches known as Hindustani Music and Carnatic Music.There is  a huge database of Raags in both of them. Bhupali  raag is one of them. It has many names. It is also known as raag Bhoopali, Bhopali and Bhoop. This Raga  is one of the famous raag in Hindustani Classical Music. In Carnatic Music it is called Raag Mohan.This is a brief introduction of this raag for a beginner. All most all Indian ragas have unique playing timing and mood. This raag is an evening raag. The beginners who just started learning Indian Classical Music on flute should start from this raag. This raga  mood is pleasant,Devotional and peaceful.

Why  raag bhoopali is good choice for beginner:

This raga is perfect for beginners who just started learning flute because it has only 5 Notes or swaras. It is based on Kalyaan Thaat.

There are no Komal Swaras and Teewar Swara are  played in this raag. Ma Note and Ni notes are excluded.

Beginners should use G Base Flute for this raag. However it can be played on any flute. First play single note at a time for 3 to 4 seconds. Then practice all the notes in one go. You can also add Meend and Gamaks while playing Notes. When you feel confident start the following exercise:
